Should Art Even Be Discussed?

Art gets discussed time and time again, a movie, a series, a piece of writing, a song. We all discuss, but what even is the point?

People seem to only discuss art when they want to talk about their opinion. The analysis is more often than not shallow at best. They usually only talk about a perceived surface of the art itself. Never in the history of humans could we discuss more and still not much can be learned from our discussions. They are poisoned at all levels.

In long video essays the creator mispronounced a name, thousands will correct him, but won’t engage in the important concepts he talked about. The small little detail was so much more important. I always see how people get lost in those small details. They lose sight of the bigger picture. They always do, we will always do.

In stories, they argue about little details of the characters backstory or power level (lol).

The Right To Be Wrong

What does it mean to be wrong about your interpretation of art? When you read a book that has a particular social critique. The author explicitly states it over and over again. But you come to the completely opposite conclusion. Is your interpretation invalid? Does it even matter?

Discussions about how is right or wrong are as old as we exist. There are moments in our life where being wrong can actually hurt someone, other times it hardly matters. Having an opinion and acting on it are two different things. When we have an opinion the might hurt ourselves or others we maybe need to think more about it.

Saying to others no you are wrong has little value. Changing your opinion on little details also has little value.

Books

I like books, you can’t comment on them globally or interrupt the author while he writes the book. No one sees my opinions but myself.
