Struggle

Color

Personally I still quite struggle with color, it’s hard for me to add color later, but it’s also hard to start with color. I am scared of messing up values or using the wrong colors. I should probably use color thumbnail sketches to get a better feeling for color.

Adding color as an afterthought, is always a bad idea. It never looks quite right, and I think it’s really easy to tell when you do.

Rendering

My rendering is not good, not only because of the inability to render something specific like fabric, but I am personally unsure how I even want them to look like. More leather boots or fabric like? Those decide how it needs to be rendered.

Step-By-Step

I need to change how I start painting/drawing. There are stages when crafting an artwork and I think I am jumping between them over and over again. Not finishing one before moving to the next. First thinking about form, then about values, then about color, then about texture, rendering. I jump from values to texture back to form. While each stage is half-assed. This probably bothers me the most.
